Summary

In 2012 the Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation (2009 - 2012) was abolished and its functions were distributed across nine newly created Queensland Government Departments. The Department of Science, Information Technology, Innovation and the Arts was one of these nine. This department was responsible for Queensland's government science and information technology policies and oversaw the Queensland Office of the Chief Scientist. In 2015 the Department of Science, Information Technology, Innovation and the Arts was restructured and renamed the Department of Science, Information Technology and Innovation (2015 - 2017).
