Summary

In 2012 the Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation (2009 - 2012) was abolished and its functions were distributed across nine newly created Queensland Government Departments. The Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing was one of these nine. Amongst its many functions the Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing was involved in marine infrastructure, custody and management of Queensland's national and marine parks and protected area estate management. In 2015 the Department of National Parks, Sport and Racing was established as a result of the re-structure and renaming of the Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing (2012 - 2015).
