Summary
The New South Wales Premier's Prizes for Science and Engineering are awarded annually "to recognise excellence in science and engineering, and reward leading researchers for cutting-edge work that has generated economic, environmental, health, social or technological benefits for New South Wales [from https://www.chiefscientist.nsw.gov.au/premiersprizes]. They replace the NSW Science and Engineering Awards which ran from 2008 to 2014. Included among the Awards is that for New South Wales Scientist of the Year, presented to "an outstanding individual who has made a significant contribution to the advancement of science and/or engineering which has benefited or has the potential to benefit the people of New South Wales". The Prizes, which are administered by the Office of the New South Wales Chief Scientist and Engineer, reflect the State Government's strong commitment to the local research and development community and are intended to raise community awareness of the important contribution made by scientists and engineers.
