Summary

Tasmanian Development and Resources or TDR (1994 - 1998) succeeded the Department of State Development and Resources (1993 - 1994). It incorporated sport and tourism functions alongside functions relating to mining and forestry. In 1998 its functions were divided across six agencies including the Department of Vocational Education and Training (1996 - 1998), the Workplace Standards Authority (1996 - 2006), Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources (1998 - 2014) and the Department of State Development (1998 - 2002). While the overarching Department in charge of mining has changed multiple times the division responsible for government functions relating to groundwater, minerology and geology research, and mining has remained Mineral Resources Tasmania (1994 - ).
