Summary

In 2017 the Department of Fisheries was amalgamated with multiple other departments to form the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (2017 - ). The three departments were the Department of Fisheries (2001 - 2007), Department of Agriculture and Food WA (2006 - 2017) and the Department of Regional Development (2013 - 2017). The new Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development is responsible for Western Australian agriculture and aquaculture including research, surveys of soil, water and other materials and quarantine.
