Summary
The Western Australian Fisheries Department [2] existed as a sub-department within multiple departments from 1920 to 1953 when it became its own department. It was responsible for aspects of shipping and diving in addition to aquaculture. In 1964 it was replaced by the Department of Fisheries and Fauna (1964 - 1974).
