Summary

The Department of Fisheries succeeded Fisheries Western Australia in 2001 and took on responsibility for commercial and recreational aquaculture, and fish sustainability. In 2017 the Department of Fisheries was amalgamated with multiple other departments to form the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (2017 - ).
