Sir Harrie Massey, a graduate of the University of Melbourne, was the Goldsmid Professor of Mathematics, University College London 1938-1950, the Quain Professor and Head of the Physics Department from 1950-1972 and head of the department of physics and astronomy from 1972-1975.
