- Abstract
During last year the President, Dr J. A. L. Matheson, requested one of the Vice-Presidents, Mr K. J. Kelsall, to review the Institution's various prizes and the methods of adjudication and awarding them.
Although there had previously been many limited attempts to overcome the difficulties associated with the award of prizes for papers published by the Institution, Mr Kelsall's study and report has provided the Council with the first comprehensive summary of the situation.
Mr Kelsall has made numerous recommendations but considered that a wider preview of his proposals should be sought before the Council adopts new policies. Therefore his report has been circulated to Division Committees and College Boards for comment and it is hoped that by a Council meeting later this year firm policies will be decided.
