Summary

Howard Dann, CBE BMechE FIEAust MASCE, was closely associated with the development of the Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme from the earliest initial studies for the project in the 1940s through to its completion in the 1970s.

Commencing as a representative of New South Wales on the Technical Committee, Commonwealth and States Snowy River Committee, he rose to become Commissioner of the Snowy Mountains Authority and Director of the Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation when he retired in 1973.

His distinguished engineering career was acknowledged when he was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 1965.
