Summary

Gordon Gutteridge BCE MSc MIEAust was the Director, Division of Public Health Engineering, Commonwealth Department of Public Health from 1924 to 1928, and a consulting engineer specialising in water supply and sewerage schemes from 1928 until his death in 1942. Through these roles he helped to successfully guide the design and construction of many major town water supply and sewerage schemes throughout Australia, that today, still continue to provide on-going public health benefits. In 1939, he partnered with Gerald Haskins and Geoff Davey - the Sydney consulting engineering partnership of Haskins and Davey - to form the major firm Gutteridge, Haskins and Davey (GHD).
