Summary
The Australian Mathematics Trust was established in 1992 with the merger of the Australian Mathematics Olympiad (1979 - 1992) and the Australian Mathematics Foundation Limited (1987 - 1992). As with its predecessors, the Trust was founded to help Australian secondary students realise their potential in problem solving through mathematics and algorithmics, in parallel with the school curriculum. The Trust continues the Olympiad through the Australian Mathematical Olympiad Committee (AMOC). It also runs the Australian Mathematics Competition (founded 1976), now a 30-problem, online competition. The B. H. Neumann Award for Excellence in Mathematics Enrichment is presented by the Trust to recognise significant service to mathematics and the objects of the Trust.
