Summary
Stephen Wilkins was an X-ray crystallographer who was known for his integral involvement in the development of hard X-ray phase-contrast imaging, which greatly expanded the utility and level of information achievable through x-ray imaging by interpreting the refractive information of x-rays. He was also instrumental in the initiation and establishing of the Australian National Beamline Facility (ANBF), situated at the Japanese synchrotron known as the Photon Factory. Wilkins published over 140 peer-refereed papers.
Details
In 1998 Wilkins (with colleagues) was awarded the CSIRO Medal for Research Achievement for developments in hard X-ray phase contrast imaging.
