Summary

William Roderick Blevin was a member of the Divisions of Physics and Applied Physics at CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation) for forty-two years, 1953-1994, joining as a Research Scientist and rising to Chief Standards Scientist and Chief of Division. He was also appointed Honorary Fellow of the Division of Telecommunications and Industrial Physics. Blevin's main research interests were in the fields of metrology and applied physics on which he wrote widely. He was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 1989 and was a Fellow of many scientific societies and bodies including the Institute of Physics, UK (FIP) and the Australian Institute of Physics (FAIP).
