Summary
Maurice Mulcahy joined the CSIR Lubricants and Bearings Section in 1942 and progressed through a number of Divisions, ultimately becoming Assistant Chief of the Division of Fossil Fuels. He pioneered research on coal combustion and the kinetics of atomic and free-radical reactions. This led to work on phytochemical smog and urban haze. Mulcahy became an authority on atmospheric science, and coal chemistry and combustion. During his career he co-authored at least four research articles.
