Summary
The CSIRO's Division of Forest Research emerged from an amalgamation of the Department of Primary Industry's Forestry and Timber Bureau and Forest Research Institute. The Division was based in Canberra but had regional stations in Tasmania, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory. The Division of Forest Research conducted extensive research in eucalypt and pine trees. In 1987, CSIRO underwent a major restructuring and the Division of Forest Research became the Division of Forestry and Forest Products in 1988.
