Summary
Ian Telford is a taxonomic botanist whose main research interests are the biology, systematics and biogeography of the families Cucurbitaceae and Phyllanthaceae. He collaborates in an international project to understand the species limits and relationships of the Australian members of these families. Other research is into the Asteraceae, Lamiaceae and Apiaceae, and the flora of north-eastern New South Wales. Telford joined the Canberra Botanic Gardens in 1966, becoming botanist for the Gardens' herbarium. In 1994, when that herbarium was transferred to the Australian National Herbarium, Telford also moved. After four years he retired to Armidale, N.S.W. He became Honorary Curator of the N.C. W. Beadle Herbarium at the University of New England.
