Summary
The Australian and New Zealand Association of Radiology was established in 1935 to ensure the specialty was formally recognised and that practitioners were properly trained. Its aims were: to promote, encourage, and provide for the advancement and study of radiology, radioactivity, physiotherapy and allied sciences; to carry out research; and to cultivate and maintain the highest principles of practice and ethics. The Association changed its name in 1942 to the Australian and New Zealand Association of Radiologists. With a further change of name it became the College of Radiologists (Australia and New Zealand) (later Australasia) in 1949.
