John Crisp, AM FTSE ME FIEAust, was Professor of Engineering Dynamics, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Monash University from 1967 to 1991. He made a major contribution to mechanical and manufacturing engineering in Australia, as Chairman of the Institution of Engineers Australia's Task Force on Manufacturing 1978-1981 and as Chairman of the College of Mechanical Engineers 1975-1978.

His distinguished contribution to engineering was acknowledged when he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 1982 in recognition of service to engineering, was awarded the A. G. M. Michell Medal in 1984, and was awarded the Peter Nicol Russell Memorial Medal in 1987.
