Summary
Halina Rubinsztein-Dunlop is a physicist who is recognised internationally for her work in laser physics, linear and nonlinear high resolution spectroscopy, laser micromanipulation, atom cooling and trapping and nano-optics. She has conducted pioneering research in atom optics, laser micro-manipulation using optical tweezers and laser-enhanced ionisation spectroscopy. In biophysics she has studied the body's balance system and how the brain detects gravity. At the University of Queensland Rubinsztein-Dunlop was appointed Professor of Physics in 2000 and was Head of the School of Mathematics and Physics from 2010 - 2014.
