Summary

In 1975 the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries was established, replacing the Department of Agriculture [III] (1908 - 1975). Despite responsibility for fisheries being transferred from the Department of Fisheries and Fauna Conservation (1965 - 1972) in 1972 to the Department of Agriculture [III] (1908 - 1975) the title of the department was not changed to reflect this until October 1975. In 1979 the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (1975 - 1979) was split forming the Department of Agriculture [IV] (1979 - 1992) and the Department of Fisheries [II] (1979 - 1992).
