Summary
The Western Australian Government Tramways and Ferries was created in 1949 after the split of the Western Australian Government Railways, Tramways and Ferries. From 1949 to 1958 the trams of Western Australia were replaced by buses. In 1958 this department was replaced by a statutory authority called the Metropolitan (Perth) Passenger Transport Trust (1958 - 1986).
