Summary
The Queensland Department of Environment, Conservation and Tourism was responsible for the preservation and protection of the Queensland environment. Established in 1987 it replaced the Queensland Arts, National Parks and Sports Department (1980 - 1987). In 1989 the Queensland Department of Environment, Conservation and Tourism was re-named the Department of Environment and Conservation before being replaced the same year with the Queensland Environment and Heritage Department (I) (1989 - 1996).
