Summary
In 1989 the Queensland Department of Environment and Conservation (1989) was renamed the Environment and Heritage Department (I). It was responsible for the management of parks, wildlife and Queensland's natural environment in an ecologically sustainable manner. It was also involved in the conservation of Queensland's cultural heritage. In 1996 the Environment and Heritage Department was renamed the Environment Department (1996 - 1998).
