Summary

Eric Saint was a medical scientist who played a leading role in the foundation of two medical schools at Australian Universities: he was foundation Professor of Medicine at the University of Western Australia and inaugural Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Queensland. Early research interests focused on gastroenterology, liver disease and chronic alcoholism. During his time with the Flying Doctor Service Saint was the first to warn of the looming crisis of asbestosis from blue-asbestos dust at mines in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
