Summary

Sir Claude Gibb, KBE FRS DSc PhD ME FSASM AMIEAust, was an Australian-born mechanical engineer and business man, who became a leading industrial and defence figure in Britain, noted for his work on steam turbines, weapons and tanks, and for his role in early civil nuclear power.

In 1946 his work was recognised when he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1946 for his original work in research, design, and development of new methods to manufacture steam turbines, and for his work on armaments. He was created a Knight Bachelor in 1945 and Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (KBE) in 1956.
