Summary

Geoffrey Davey, CBE BE FIEAust, was a leading consulting civil engineer who worked in several Australian states and Papua New Guinea with organisations concerned with water and sewerage, and iron and steel. In 1935 he formed a consulting engineering partnership 'Haskins and Davey' in Sydney with Gerald Haskins, and in 1939 joined with Gordon Gutteridge to form 'Gutteridge Haskins and Davey'. Davey is also noted for pioneering the manufacture of concrete roofing tiles in Queensland.

His firm was a founding member of the Association of Consulting Engineers Australia in 1952, and he was President 1956-1957. He also served on the council of the Institution of Engineers, Australia, and was its representative of the National Capital Development Commission. Late in life he was ordained as a priest in the Roman Catholic church.
