Summary
Robert Evans is noted for is research into wood and its properties, including colloidal polymer chemistry and physics, paper strength improvement and pulping kinetics. His research led to the development of the SilviScan™ rapid wood analysis system which has been adopted world-wide. He received the 2001 Wallenberg Prize for this research. Having joined the CSIRO Division of Chemical and Wood Technology in 1988, Evans was appointed a CSIRO Fellow in the Division of Materials Science and Engineering in 2007.
Details
In 2001 Evans was awarded the CSIRO Chairman's Medal for Science and Engineering Excellence as leader of the SilviScan team, for the development of SilviScan technology and its application to the rapid assessment of wood quality in forest resources.
