Summary
David Paton is an ornithologist and ecologist who has been at the University of Adelaide since 1983. His research interests lie with the ecology of Australian honeyeaters, and with bird conservation and habitat restoration in South Australian woodlands. He has been a strong advocate for environmental restoration around the mouth of the Murray River, and in 2010 published At the end of the River: the Coorong and Lower Lakes. Paton has been involved in a number of habitat restoration and species recovery programs, including those for the Glossy and Red-tailed Cockatoos. He has held executive roles with Birds Australia and in 2007 became a Life Member of the South Australian Ornithological Association. In 1986 with H. A. Ford Paton co-edited The Dynamic partnership: birds and plants in Southern Australia.
