Les Christidis, senior Curator at Museum Victoria, is the author of numerous scientific publications on the evolution and systematics of birds.

Born 30 May 1959. Educated University of Melbourne (BSc Hons 1980) and Australian National University (PhD 1985). Postdoctoral Fellow, CSIRO Division of Wildlife and Ecology 1985-86, working on the evolutionary history of Australia's birds; QEII Postdoctoral Fellow, Australian National University 1987; senior Curator, Museum of Victoria 1988-date. Research interests include conservation genetics and evolutionary studies using DNA from museum specimens. Wrote The taxonomy and species of birds of Australia and its territories (1994, with Walter Boles, q.v.).
