Summary
Sir James Forrest completed a five-year articled clerks' course at the University of Melbourne and was admitted to practice in 1930. Three years later he was admitted to partnership in Hedderwick Fookes & Alston and began to consolidate his reputation as an outstanding young commercial lawyer. In 1950 Forrest was invited to join the board of Australian Consolidated Industries Ltd. and in 1953 he became Chairman. He went on to become Director of many other companies and organisations. In 1977 Forrest was elected a special Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science (FAA).
