Summary
Philip Gidley King sailed with his father P.P. King on the HMS "Adventure" 1826-1830 and became a midshipman on the "Beagle" in 1831. Both ships conducted hydrographic surveys of the South American coast and King became a life-long friend of Charles Darwin.
