Summary
Douglas Cohen was Head of the Department of Surgery, Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children and consultant Paediatric Surgeon to the Crown Street Women's Hospital.
Cohen, together with anaesthetist Dr Victor Hercus and pump engineer Viv Ebsary, developed radical new technology in the field of paediatric cardiac surgery, by designing and building the first heart-lung machine in Sydney.
