Summary
Henry Brown was a member of the Victorian, Western Australian and New South Wales Geological Surveys 1865-1882 and was Government Geologist in South Australia 1882-1912. He produced a geological map of South Australia 1899.

Teacher, King's College, Windsor, Nova Scotia 1860-62; student, Royal School of Mines, London 1863-64; Geological Survey of Victoria under A.R.C. Selwyn (q.v.) 1865-69; government geologist in Western Australia 1870-72; private mining in Victoria and New Zealand 1872-74; work with Selwyn, Canada 1874-81; work for the New South Wales government 1881-82; government geologist of South Australia 1882-1911; honorary consultant to the Department of Mines in Adelaide until his death.
