Summary
In 1997 the Australian Science and Technology Council changed its name, becoming the Australian Science, Technology and Engineering Council. The Council continued to be responsible for the same functions. In 1998 the Council was abolished, its functions taken over by the Prime Minister's Science, Engineering and Innovation Council (PMSEIC).
