The Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Tropical Plant Pathology was established in July 1992. It carried out research in areas such as tropical plant diseases, general plant pathology, epidemiology and plant disease management strategies. The CRC was replaced by the CRC for Tropical Plant Protection in 2000.
