Details
The firm was initially founded in 1944 as Crooks Michell, a partnership between the engineers Bob Crooks and Frank Michell. Ted Peacock joined as a partner in 1948, but in 1950 left the partnership to lecture in Concrete Technology at the University of Sydney. After Bob Crooks retired in 1947, the name Crooks Michell was retained until 1953 when Ted Peacock rejoined the practice and the firm of R Crooks, Michell & Peacock was established. In 1961 the firm became Crooks Michell Peacock and Stewart after architect Ian Stewart, formerly chief architect with the Malaysian Public Works Department, was invited to join the partnership.
