Abstract

The Council of The Institution has decided that Institution
Awards for 1963 be made as follows:-
To Mr E. B. Pender, ME BA AMIEAust, Mr A. D. Hosking, BE DIC FGS AMIEAust, and Mr R. H. Mattner, BE(Mining) AMIEAust, for their paper entitled "Grouted rock bolts for permanent support of major underground works", which was published in the July-Aug 1963 issue of The Journal.
To Dr J. F. Brotchie, BCE DEng AMIEAust, for his paper entitled "A concept for the direct design of structures", which was published in the September, 1963, issue of the Civil Engineering Transactions.
To Dr B. Rawlings, PhD MEngSc BSc BE AMIEAust, for his paper entitled "The present state of knowledge of
the behaviour of steel structures under the action of impulsive
loads", which was published in the September, 1963, issue of
the Civil Engineering Transactions.
