Summary
Peter Goldacre was a plant physiologist who, having completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney, joined the CSIR Division of Plant industry in 1947. His research focused initially on the study the biochemistry of plant hormone (ie, auxin) action. In later research he investigated a naturally occurring cell division initiator (cytokinin). Goldacre died at the age of 34: his work was continued by his colleagues. The Peter Goldacre Medal has been awarded since 1965 by the Australian Society of Plant Physiologists (ASPP) and its successor, the Australian Society of Plant Scientists.
