Summary
"Horizons in science" was a conference held in Melbourne in October 1962 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Professional Officers Association. The conference was a series of eight public lectures by eminent Australian scientists. Speakers were:
Mark Oliphant - 'Peaceful uses of atomic bombs';
Keith Alder - 'Harnessing the atom for Australia's development';
Harold Raggatt - 'The search for mineral resources';
Thomas Leech - 'Some contributions of science to the Snowy Mountains Scheme';
Philip Law - 'Resources of Australian Antarctica';
Robert Boswell - 'Satellites in space';
Francis O'Grady - 'Telecommunications through satellites';
Edward Bowen - 'Studying the universe by radio astronomy'.
