Summary
Johns and Waygood Perry Engineering Ltd was the holding company for a group of heavy engineering firms with facilities in all States and Territories. It was formed by the merger of Johns and Waygood Holdings and the Perry Engineering Company Ltd of South Australia in 1966. The company specialised in heavy structural and plate fabrications, materials handling and mechanical equipment, site construction and the manufacture of lifts and escalators.
In 1977, the company name was simplified to Johns Perry Ltd.
In 1986, the holding company was taken over by Boral Limited, and during the following years some of the subsidiary companies were renamed. For example, from 1 June 1990 Johns Perry Lifts were known as Boral Elevators. Following further takeovers of the holding company, it became Advanced Building Technologies Group Pty Ltd and was still operating under that name in 2006.
