Summary
Jim Ferguson was the head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Gordon Institute of Technoilogy from about 1956 until his retirement in the 1970s.
He was a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Australia, served on its Engineering Heritage Sub-committee, published papers on Engineering History, and assisted the Industrial History Committee of the National Trust Victoria.

Born as Mephan James William Ferguson, to Mephan John Ferguson and Mary Raeburn nee Palmer, he was soon known as "Jim" or "James Mephan Ferguson", retaining the well known 'Mephan' name of his grandfather Mephan Ferguson.
