Summary
The W. R. Browne Award is the premier award of the Geological Society of Australia. Inaugurated in 1979, it has been presented in alternate years since 1984. It recognises a member of the society who has made "distinguished contributions and demonstrated impact to the geological sciences in Australia". William R. Browne was a foundation Member of the Society and its President from 1955 to 1956.
