Summary
The Dorothy Hill Medal was been awarded annually by the Australian Academy of Science since 2002. It recognises significant research in the field of earth sciences conducted by a female Australian resident. This research should be conducted mainly in Australia and up to ten years since the completion of the recipient's PhD. Until 2017 the Medal was known as the Dorothy Hill Prize (and sometimes Award). The Medal commemorates Dorothy Hill, the Academy's first female President, who as Professor of Geology at the University of Queensland from 1959 to 1972, was Australia's first female professor.
