Summary
The Fenner Medal has been awarded annually by the Australian Academy of Science since 2000. It is an early career award to recognise distinguished research in biology (excluding the biomedical sciences) conducted principally in Australia by an Australian resident. Frank Fenner, a foundation Fellow of the Academy, was a microbiologist distinguished for his work in eradicating smallpox.
