Summary
The Pitman Medal has been awarded (at most annually) by the Statistical Society of Australia since 1978. It recognises outstanding achievement in, and contribution to, the discipline of statistics. The Medal commemorates Edward Pitman, Professor of Mathematics at the University of Tasmania from 1926 to 1962 and the inaugural recipient of the Medal.
