Summary

The Water Department was established in 2005 and by 2008 when the Water and Rivers Commission (1996 - 2008) was officially abolished it was responsible for all of Western Australian's water sustainability and resources. In 2017 an amalgamation of the Water Department (2005 - 2017), the Department of Environment Regulation (2013 - 2017) and the Office of Environmental Protection Authority (2009 - 2017) formed the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (2017- ).
