Summary
The Public Works Department (II) became an independent department from the Mines and Works Department in 1890. The Public Works Department (II) was responsible for public buildings in Queensland and some infrastructure like roads, bridges and sewerage. In 1989 it was merged with seven other Queensland government departments to form the Administrative Services Department.
