The Sydney University Engineering Society, associated with the University of Sydney, was founded in 1895.
In 1919, the Sydney University Engineering Society amalgamated with other existing engineering associations, to form the "Institution of Engineers, Australia" as one of the Institution's eleven 'Foundation Societies', and its members transferred to the Institution as foundation Associate Members.
