Summary
Peter Francis grew up at Konongwootong and worked as a shearer, timber-cutter and bridge builder.
From 1966 until his death in 1989, Peter Francis worked to convert a former abandoned quarry and rubbish dump, known as "The Points" in the town of Coleraine, into an arboretum. In 2010, it contained more than 500 eucalypts.
Peter Francis was awarded the Medal of the Order for Meritorious Service (BEM) for his achievement.
